Project WJ: Arb Bull Bar Installation

The first step that I took in my Grand Cherokee build up was to purchase an ARB Bull Bar and Warn M8000 Winch. I ended up getting the ARB Bull Bar from 4wd.com and the winch from Streetside Auto. The bar and winch got delivered some time in February, but it was much too cold to install it then. So I waited until April when the temperatures were milder.

The installation took about 10 hours as several things ended up going wrong. I think it was a combination of incorrect drill bit size, and not reading the directions carefully. When I installed my bull bar on my Cherokee, the directions had you clock the M8000 winch to the bottom. So that is what I did, only to find out that on the WJ bar, they have you clock it to the top. So that took some time to pull the winch back out of the bar, reclock it, and remount it. And then there was a stripped bolt that had to be retapped. Overll, the installation didn’t go very smooth, but I think a lot of it was my fault.
