One of the first things I wanted to do with Project Trail was to get a decent set of skid plates on it. The Trail Edition Premium comes with a set of skid plates, but they are very light aluminum, and are prone to deform if any pressure is put on them.

When researching skid plates for a 4Runner, several brands came up. The several brands that I looked into included Shrockworks, Bud Built, and ARB. Both the Shrockworks and Bud Built seemed very heavy duty, and their cost reflected that.

I focused in on the ARB due to the cost. Yes, they are a little lighter duty, but for what I am planning on doing, they will hold up just fine.
